Where to Find Sea Glass in Ventura County
I love to hunt on our Ventura beach for suboceanic glass. Today I wish be communion a few tips and answering the common question, "what is sea meth?".
It's genuine. I am totally obsessed with sea glass in. And when we bought our house at Ventura Beach we had no more estimation there was much of it on our beach. In fact, I walked the beaches regularly for two years and never noticed it!
Every time we come to the beach I always finagle to get time to hunt for glass.
We are at the beach in Ventura for a week and glass hunting has been my darling thing to do! (I love enjoying long walks on the beach piece looking for glass!
In my defense, it's not equivalent this beautiful glass is just sitting in the sand waiting to exist picked upward. Instead, it rests in the rocks because information technology is so light it won't stay on the beach unless IT gets caught on something.
On a very rare occasion if a patch of glass is at the very transcend of the wave information technology might be left in the grit. Just usually, the adjacent wave takes it back to the sea.
What is Oceanic Glass?
For those of you wondering what sea shabu is, Wikipedia defines it American Samoa "by nature produced and authenticatedsea glass originates Eastern Samoa pieces ofglass from broken bottles, broken tableware, Beaver State smooth shipwrecks, which are rolling and tumbled in the ocean for years until all of their edges are rounded off, and the slickness of theglass has been worn to a opaque visual aspect".
I collect oversea glass wherever we are at our Ventura Beach house. The photo in a higher place is part of my collection in the windowpane of our beach house.
You can buy factory-made "sea" glass at some craftsmanship stores, just this typewrite is just spyglass tumbled in a large tumbler. It's not the real affair.
Were Does Sea Glass Come From?
The common colors are green, brown, and white and are still in wide use today. Rarer colors of sea glass, such as aqua, cobalt blue, red and yellow are pieces that in umteen cases the color has not been made or used for many years.
The green crank comes from beer bottles, wine bottles, and soda bottles. White or clear methamphetamine hydrochloride comes from a ton of sources such equally bottles, glasses, and Windows.
The brown methamphetamine hydrochloride comes from beer and whisky bottles and other popular home products.
Aqua Beaver State seafoam unripened (which happens to be my ducky color) comes from coca-genus Cola bottles, some booze bottles, and window glass.
Cobalt ultramarine comes from Milk of Magnesia bottles, many household bottles, and very gaga envenom bottles.
The very rare red glass comes from Anchor Hocking glass, send lights, elevator car lights, and old bottles.
About four years ago I was walking on the beach and I noticed roughly women on the beach World Health Organization were search for something in the rocks. When I asked them what they were collecting I nigh died! I could not think there was pleasant colored glass on the beaches right before of our house. I have been a collector ever since.
Below are two photos of the glassful I collected along one walk on the beach. My walk normally lasts a couple of hours and I pass a lot more time aggregation than I do walking.
This was my "best hale ever".
Assembling Tips
My tips for collecting offshore glass are to look for small rocks, about the size of a draw and quarter. Try to go at low tide. If you can hunt after a storm or large waves you will find many sea field glass. Wear shoes so you can spread the rocks with your feet. And most importantly, have fun.
Everybody also asks me what I do with the oversea glass after I collect information technology. For forthwith, I sort it by color and put it in these awesome vintage jars. I need to start looking more jars because they are almost all rich!
This is what I call my "spurn jounce" which makes no good sense since the crimson and yellow are by distant the rarest of the seagoing glass I own. But they don't match the colour scheme of our home so I keep them well hidden. Haha.
I besides have used my sea glass in these ball jar star-powered lanterns by Sonnenglass. I filled each one with about an inch of oversea chalk.
And then I adorned them above a table I assault the beach.
I love how magical the sea glass looked and the fact some of the sea shabu I had collected that day was in the jars!
Someday I would like to sample to make some sea field glass jewelry. I love this sterling silver bezel wrapped jewelry you can find happening Etsy.
Exposure away LitaSeaGlassJewekry.
Does anybody know how to make this bezel jewelry? Is it challenging to do? Because I am dying to ascertain!
I likewise want to make a shipboard glass Christmas tree this year. All time I see one on Pinterest I make a anticipat that I will make one!
Of flow, I should belik buy one on Amazon instead! International Relations and Security Network't the shoetree pictured below just wonderful? Last 25-Dec they were sold out all over! Click on the photograph below to see this Christmastime tree priced under $25.00.
In the meantime, you can find me hunting for sea glass on Pierpont Beach in Ventura every day this week. And please know, I wish be loving every min of it.
